In response to organisational and service user needs, we are looking for individuals who are passionate, flexible, creative, and who are committed to working in a high quality AMHP and Adults Emergency Duty Service (EDS).

We are inviting applications from experienced AMHPs to join our supportive team. Our teams cover the whole of the Kirklees district.

The work of an AMHP is not always easy, and we understand the importance of taking care of ourselves.  We take your wellbeing seriously and have Wellbeing Champions based across Adult Social care who understand when you may need some additional support. As a Kirklees Council AMHP, you will be fully supported by a dedicated team to undertake these complex and demanding roles.

The role will involve a blended approach to office and home working to meet the needs of the service and yourself.  IT will be provided to ensure comfortable working environments both at home and in the office.  As a local authority we are committed to flexible working and always promote a healthy work-life balance. 

What you will do...

The EDS primary role is to undertake Mental Health Act (1983) assessments and provide emergency adult social care cover for the local authority out of hours. This includes emergency housing, safeguarding, and working with the police in domestic violence and crisis situations. Your professional expertise and approach will ensure individual needs and aspirations are always supported, risk is managed proportionately, and safeguarding is of paramount importance. You will be part of a dynamic, responsive and innovative team with varied tasks and no two days are the same.

What you will need...

You will require working knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act (2005), Care Act (2014), Human Rights Act (1998) and SEND Legislation.

You must hold a Social Work England recognised qualification (or equivalent with your professional body) and have evidence that you are registered with Social Work England

You must be qualified as an Approved Mental Health Professional.

Travel is an essential part of this job, and you will be required travel across Kirklees.

Hours:

Out of Hours Rota (rolling rota, spread across 5 weeks). Usual working pattern would be approx. 4 shifts per week, with a mixture of shifts: 16:00-02:00 and 20:00-08:00.
